The cover of a book featuring illustrators whose work is themed around "Wa" (Japanese style).
Creation has an aspect of hardship. For me, it's the initial stages when I can't make progress, and I'm sure everyone overcomes their own struggles and difficulties.
Conversely, the moment something is completed and released from my hands, I forget the hardships and return to a peaceful, yet somewhat incomplete, daily life. I represent that feeling with the Hannya (front side) and Masume (back side) masks.
The entrance to this place, where creators with a Japanese theme, in a good way, embody the spirit of demons and monsters, gather, is more ominous than I imagined.
-和- をテーマにしたのイラストレーターが集まる本の表紙。
創作というのは苦行の一面を持つ。私にとっては筆が進まない序盤がそうであり人それぞれそれなりの葛藤と苦難を乗り越えているだろう。
反して、完成し作りかけの何かだったものが手離れした瞬間に苦難を忘れて穏やかでなにか物足りない日常に戻る。その感情を般若と増女の面で表している。
和を題材にした良い意味での魑魅魍魎クリエイターが集う場所の入り口は想像よりも禍々しい仕上がりに。
